At Aurora Hills Animal Hospital, we believe that a sound wellness plan during your pet's adult years will help them to more gracefully enter their golden years and promote a longer life.  We are so excited that you have chosen us to be a partner in your pet's health care. Together we can tailor a plan to promote your pet's health.

Adult pets are generally described as being between the ages of 1 and 7 years.  This can vary based upon the size of the pet as larger pets tend to age faster.  Adult pets are usually thought to be low maintenance.  After all, they are young and seem healthy.  This thinking can keep an adult pet from getting the proper healthcare to insure that we identify and treat medical problems early.  Since adult pets are aging more rapidly than a human (6 to 7 times faster on average) we recommend twice yearly examinations so that we can more quickly detect and treat medical problems.  Here is an example of a typical adult wellness plan:

1st Year Wellness Consultation

Two complete physical examinations
        6 months apart
Annual complete fecal examination
Annual heart worm test
Annual adult screening blood work 
3-Year Rabies vaccine
3- Year DA2P vaccine (distemper/parvovirus)
Intraoral Bordatella vaccine (kennel cough)
         Given every 6 months if at risk
1-Year Leptospirosis vaccine (if at risk)
12 months of heart worm prevention
Discussion of nutrition, parasite control,
and behavior

2nd -6th Year Wellness Consultation

Two complete physical examinations
        6 months apart
Annual complete fecal examination
Annual heart worm test
Annual adult screening blood work
